Description
The Pony and the Steed by Melinda Wood Allen
Two friends out in a meadow an unlikely pair as can be, but they play and run out in the sun, dancing and free.
And, everyday they make their way down the valley to the stream, over rocky hills and then through the woods and then back home again.
One of them is a thoroughbred, tall and handsome and stately, the other one just a humble dun, a small homely pony
But, look a little closer at this pair and you will find, the pony wears a little bell for the handsome steed is blind.
So, ring your bell, ring it loud and clear, it might be what I need to hear, through life’s hills and valleys as we go.
And, like the pony and the steed, we all could meet another’s need and together we’d find our way home.
Now, at times, I’m like the pony, I can see just where to go, other times, I’m lost and blind forgetting all I know
I need a lamp to light the way, or a bell to ring me home, a friend like you to remind me that I am never alone
