The Story Behind Fred Bogert’s One Voice:
The voices in this recording of One Voice belong to some of the biggest stars in New Thought music — Jana Stanfield, Karen Taylor-Good, Sue Riley, David Roth, Greg Tamblyn, Devotion, Armand & Angelina, Richard Mekdeci, and Fred Bogert. All of the singers attended the INTA Congress in July 2005 in Phoenix, AZ, where Itoi Ministries and the INTA honored 26 songwriters and presented first-ever trophies for the most popular songs in five categories during the First Annual People’s Choice New Thought Songwriters Tribute. The piano on this song was recorded the day before the composer, Fred Bogert, left home for the INTA Congress. Bogert finished the lyrics while on the plane headed to Phoenix. His voice is the lead vocal, except for the middle section, where Greg Tamblyn’s voice is the lead. While in Phoenix, Bogert recorded the singers one at a time, not letting them hear anything except the lead vocal and the piano. After he got back to Nashville, Bogert put all the vocal parts together. Then he recorded the bass, acoustic guitars and percussion. His friend, Jeff Kinder from Unity of Gaithersburg, MD, had played acoustic guitar along with his piano part that first day, and Bogert used some of that as well in the mix. “It still amazes me how beautiful the interplay of all those voices is, even though no one heard anyone else’s part as they sang,” says Bogert. “Divine intuition!”
