Description
“Golden Memories” was written for the 50th Anniversary of Unity of Fairfax, Oakton, VA in 2006. It has since been used by many churches across the country, and for many different Anniversaries simple by substituting “all our years” for “50 years.”

Golden moments, golden memories,
Thoughts produced after their kind.
Light surrounds us, love enfolds us,
God, now grant us peace of mind.
Gathered in a common union,
Let our light forever shine.
Fifty years is but an instant
In eternal love divine.
Words of comfort, daily offered,
Silent prayers that bless us all.
Co-creators on our journey,
Joined as one and standing tall.
Broad-shouldered history, big shoes to fill
In the ministry of God’s will,
Hand in hand we join our voices
Where the light is burning still.
On shoulders of giants, our vision is clear.
In their shoes we walk softly, to listen, to hear.
For the call is the same as our ancestors heard,
And the voice as impassioned as the one their hearts stirred.
By so many names we praise the most holy;
So many traditions, but only one song.
One in the spirit, together in love,
Where three or more gather a new day will dawn.
Gathered in a common union,
Let our light forever shine.
Fifty years is but an instant
In eternal love divine.
Come, you tribes of every nation,
Patchwork quilt by God’s hand sewn,
Join as one in celebration.
Fellow traveler, welcome home.
