About Me
Classically trained flautist Angela Harnett composes and performs flute music for relaxation. Angela was awarded the Emerging Artists grant from Arts SA and released her debut album in December 2011. Angela is accompanied on the album by strings, piano, harp and a blend of soothing instruments including the exotic ancient Armenian instrument, the duduck. Angela’s music is soulful, written from the heart and inspired by her remarkable life journey – Angela studied music at university but left unable to play her flute due to chronic pain in her neck, arms and shoulders from excessive practice routines and the stress of such a competitive environment. Angela was unable to play her flute for eleven years but through a discovery of meditation, daily journalling, relaxation techniques and spiritual practice, she not only became well enough to play again but has also composed, recorded and performed all the music on her debut album. Angela’s experience has taken her on a completely different path and her story and music is touching and inspiring.
My Interests
One of Angela’s voluntary contributions is to share her music in aged care homes and has had great success performing her relaxation music for sensory and high care groups, as well as for group relaxation sessions. She loves to perform in her local church and also volunteers as a Children’s Sunday Club Leader within her church.
