About Me
Originally a Southerner, Ed Middlebrook was born in Fredericksburg Virginia in the mid 50’s. My daughter thinks that means before the Civil War!
“Music has always been my big passion in life. I have found its creative energy to be a source of satisfaction of which I never grow tired”.
Ed’s first musical adventures began in early elementary school where in 5th grade he performed a duet on the trumpet of that old Mills Brothers favorite “Glow Worm”. “Bob and I had such stage fright we could hardly finish the song”…that trepidation onstage changed into enjoyment in the ensuing years. During his teens Ed landed a job-playing organ for the local Methodist church. He also held down 1st chair trumpet in high school and started a local rock band, “Hammer”, where by default he became lead singer and discovered a remarkable voice to go along with his keyboard playing.
His adult years have continued to reflect a deep interest in music and live performance. His credits include a seven-year stint as a pianist and vocalist in the U.S. Army Band where he traveled extensively in the Far East, Europe and the States. Tours with the Southern Gospel group, “The Chapelairs”, a seven-piece horn group playing Soul music in the early Seventies, and even a Country-Western band (Ed says: “We were very versatile, we played Country AND Western”!).
Most recently Ed has moved from Los Angeles to Bullhead City AZ. to find a slower pace and more opportunities to play LIVE music. He has been the music director at Unity Church in Bullhead City since 2003 and has played in recent years for private parties, weddings, and funerals.
