Rev. Roger Anthony YOLANDA Mapes
is a singer/songwriter/drag performer and Interfaith Minister and proud standing member of the Gay Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender Hall of Fame www.glbthalloffame.com, alongside notables Harvey Milk, Barney Frank, and DIVINE.
Before YOLANDA was a reverend, s/he was a drag singer songwriter and rock performer for over 20 years with long standing “outsider street cred” in NYC, regularly playing in legendary venues CBGB’s, Meow Mix, The Duplex, Wigstock; on TV with The Dave Chapelle Show, and in an underground film ABBALICIOUS. S/he has performed with Lucie Arnaz, Martha Wash, Lady Bunny, Hedda Lettuce, and in a special Brooklyn performance with Cirque De Soliel.
Rev. Yolanda lives now lives in Brooklyn and is employed by 3 churches (Unity, Centers for Spiritual Living, and Interfaith) as a regular music minister/special guest artist performing sacred music in drag as his/her full, whole and complete self… a true calling from Spirit.
Rev. Yolanda’s concert ministry is called “Rev Yolanda’s Old Time Gospel Hour” This concert ministry is performed in churches, performance spaces, and clubs in NYC, Boston, Vermont, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and beyond.
