We’ve heard about speech recognition software. But does it really work? emPower member John Maxwell Taylor gives his a review of the software he uses, Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
So John, what can you tell us about Dragon Software?
My experience with the latest version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking is very good. I’m using version number 10. Previous versions would make more errors but this new one makes very few, particularly if I speak in an articulate manner. I can speak about 140 words a minute whereas typing I can do 50 at best. Also, the time between getting the words onto the page from the brain is almost immediate.
What is the writing process like with Dragon NaturallySpeaking?
Naturally, I tend to speak in run on sentences under the flow of inspiration. But then I come back and add any necessary punctuation or sentence creation afterwards.
